I had been looking forward to the 3rd May and my first camp with the Blackdown Mendip Riding Club. This did not disappoint as they, or I should say Pip and Ros, organised an amazing Camp weekend at Pontispool.
I do not have any pony transport at present and when my pony Rolo went to Badgworth for five weeks in March I was able to join the Riding Club and join in some lessons. Then I heard about the Camp!
Rolo and I had such fun and learnt so much. Two lessons a day meant we could build on the lesson before. Mind you by the end Rolo and I were both exhausted. Rolo behaved very well both in his stable and in the lessons and did not let me down. We had made everyone laugh as Rolo decided that he would like to roll in the water jump. Rather wet we continued and dried out quickly, even the phone in my pocket.
The Instructors made the lessons such fun. I felt that the small groups meant I got so much help, and I did have to concentrate!
Pontispool did a fantastic job with the catering and the guys fed us so well.
The mix of people being young and in my case, old, created a great atmosphere. As the camp was a joint one with the Brent Knoll it was, I understand, financially viable. Camps can be expensive but, to me, it was worth every penny as I hope it was to everyone else.
New friendships made and those I knew a long time ago rekindled.
Thank you Blackdown Mendip
Jane and Rolo
