Welcome to the Blackdown Mendip Riding Club
BLACKDOWN MENDIP RIDING CLUB was formed in 1991 by Sally Busby with a group of friends and is now affiliated to the British Horse Society. Dianne Clark is our current Chairman.
We have an enthusiastic Committee who put on many events during the year, mostly for riders, but also some social get-togethers and informative talks for riders and non-riders. Our aim is for you to join other likeminded members in a variety of equestrian events, mostly held locally. We have weekend and mid-week lessons for both senior and junior members. The groups for these lessons are kept small, and members have found the instructors very encouraging.
We also have a Members Day once a month during the summer. This is a friendly competition, marks from which are added together each month, and Junior and Senior winners are presented with lovely bronzes at the AGM in October to keep for that year. Our financial year runs from February to February, and the subscription is a very modest £20 for senior members, £15 for juniors and £15 for non-riding members.
Locally, Riding Club members are eligible for 10% discounts from Garretts Saddlers, Draycott (Garretts 10% does not apply to leather goods, feeds or supplements) and for the use of Stockland Lovell cross-country course.
We produce newsletters to keep everyone up-to-date, and any input for this is always greatly appreciated.

We compete every year in all disciplines at Area level achieving good results. We do not select for teams, so if you want to be part of a team, be it dressage, show jumping, cross-country or hunter trials, just let us know. We also run a 2 day camp twice a year, in spring and summer.
However, if none of the above appeals, come and join us on our various organised rides. We have fun rides throughout the year, and at Christmas a Tinsel Ride in the forest, followed by refreshments. The committee welcomes any new ideas from you.
