Camp

Again Brent Knoll and Blackdown Mendip Riding Club’s have teamed up to bring you 2024 CAMPS!!!  We are offering two camps, one at Pontispool at the beginning of May (which does not clash with Badminton in 2024!) and one at Stockland Lovell at the end of September.

Last year we trialled the option of choosing exactly the sessions you wanted to do – offering the choice of poles, flat, girds, SJ and XC.  It was a little tricky to arrange, but the feedback we have had is that it worked, so we will once again give people the opportunity to request the type of lesson they would like.   Please remember to put on your booking for the flat work level and jump height you are comfortable with so that we can make sure you are with people of the same standard.  If there is someone you really want to ride with, and they are jumping at the same height, we will also try and accommodate that, so please let us know on the booking form.

Juniors will again be welcome but must be accompanied at all times by a non-riding adult attending camp with transport – whether this is a parent/guardian or nominated responsible adult.

If a more relaxed, fun break is what you are looking for, we have included a happy hacking option at Stockland Lovell – a perfect way to enjoy somewhere different and take in the views (the Quantock Hills are also only a short trailer trip away).

The cost includes:

  • Food and accommodation for you (you need to bring your own bedding) – please let us know on the booking form who you wish to share with and any dietary requirement.
  • Stabling for your horse – including bedding (straw at Pontispool and shavings at Stockland Lovell) and hay or haylage. Please bring your horse’s hard feed if required.
  • Instruction – four lessons at Pontispool and three lessons at Stockland Lovell.

The instructors booked for Pontispool are Claire Loney, Tracy Reynolds and Alaina Webster; and for Stockland Lovell are Alaina Webster, Tracy Reynolds and Natalie Passmore.

For 2024 there will be a non-refundable £50 deposit, followed by two instalments.  Both camps venues require significant non-refundable deposits, so we need to have commitment earlier from members next year, so early bird discounts will only be for those that book in good time.  Instalments will be as follows:

Pontispool

1st instalment by 22nd March

2nd instalment by 22nd April

Sorry, but no refunds will be available after 22nd April unless your place in filled.

Stockland Lovell:

1st instalment by 2nd August

2nd instalment by 1st September

Sorry, but no refunds will be available after 1st September unless your place in filled.

Note, no bedding is provided – you will need to bring your own sheet, pillow and duvet or sleeping bag.
